The Mitutoyo 547-561S Digimatic Thickness Gage is a new, digital contact-type thickness measuring instrument with a 0–12 mm (0–0.47 in) measuring range and 0.01 mm resolution, featuring Mitutoyo's ABSOLUTE linear encoder technology that retains the origin point even after power-off, eliminating the need to re-zero after each power cycle. The instrument applies a gentle 1.5 N (approximately 0.34 lbf) measuring force through a ball-contact spindle and flat anvil, making it suitable for measuring soft, compressible, or delicate materials such as films, foils, paper, rubber, gaskets, and thin sheet metal without deforming the workpiece. Accuracy is specified at ±0.001 in (±0.025 mm), and the gage offers inch/mm switchability via front-panel button alongside an ORIGIN (zero-set) function; the unit includes SPC data output capability for integration with Mitutoyo's U-WAVE or Digimatic data collection systems. The gage ships in the original Mitutoyo molded plastic storage case with custom foam insert as shown.
