The Mitutoyo 570-412 HDS-12"CX is a new, Made-in-Japan ABSOLUTE digital height gage with a 12-inch (300mm) measuring range, featuring Mitutoyo's proprietary ABSOLUTE linear encoder technology that retains the true position value even after power-off, eliminating the need to re-reference zero at startup. The instrument reads in both inch and metric (in/mm switchable), with a resolution of 0.0005"/0.01mm and is driven by a fine-adjustment thumbwheel and a rack-and-pinion coarse traverse mechanism on a hardened stainless steel beam mounted to a precision-ground cast iron base. The slider assembly includes a clamp lock, a data output port (SPC/Digimatic output) for direct connection to Mitutoyo data collection systems, and buttons for ON/OFF, ORIGIN, ZERO, ABS, HOLD/DATA functions on the LCD display panel. The unit is powered by a single SR44 silver oxide battery and ships complete with scriber, offset scriber bracket, and instruction sheet as confirmed by the accessory bags visible in the photos. This gage is suited for layout work and inspection on a surface plate, measuring workpiece heights, step heights, and transferring dimensions in toolroom or quality control environments.
