The Mitutoyo 572-311-10 is a new, Series 572 ABS (Absolute) Digimatic Scale Unit with model designation SDV-6"D, featuring a 6-inch (152 mm) measuring range designed for vertical or horizontal installation on machine tools, surface plates, and precision fixtures. The Absolute electromagnetic induction linear encoder retains its origin point at power-off, eliminating the need to re-establish datum after shutdown — a key advantage over incremental-type scales. Resolution is 0.0005 in / 0.01 mm switchable via the front-panel in/mm button, and the unit outputs data via Mitutoyo's standard SPC Digimatic interface for connection to data processors, multiplexers, or SPC-compatible displays. The anodized aluminum beam rail includes two mounting brackets for fixed installation, and the sliding reader head carries an LCD readout with ZERO/ABS and ORIGIN buttons for in-position zeroing and absolute-origin recall. Powered by a single SR44 silver-oxide battery (included), the unit is made in Japan and complies with CE / EN 50581 RoHS directives.
