This is a new Moon Cutter Co. CSTKY325 (#403) staggered tooth keyseat cutter made from cobalt high-speed steel (HSCO), manufactured in the USA. The cutter measures 3/8 in diameter with a 1/8 in width of cut and a 1/2 in shank diameter, and the staggered tooth geometry alternates left- and right-hand flutes to reduce chatter and produce a smoother finish in keyway slots compared to straight tooth designs. The black oxide surface treatment visible on the body provides corrosion resistance and mild lubricity during cutting operations. This tool is designed for milling keyseats and slots on shafting and is used in standard milling machines and horizontal mills with a 1/2 in arbor or compatible toolholding.
