This listing is for a lot of two (2) new Morse Cutting Tools EDP 96314 thread-forming (fluteless) taps, List/Series 2105G, sized 5/16-18 UNC with a plug chamfer and GH5 (H5) pitch diameter tolerance limit. The taps are manufactured from M2 high-speed steel (HSS) and are finished with a TiN (Titanium Nitride) PVD coating, which is clearly visible as the gold finish on the threaded portion of the tool; the dark uncoated square shank is standard for this style. Thread-forming taps displace rather than cut material, producing stronger threads with no chips, making them suited for through- and blind-hole applications in ductile materials including low-carbon steel, aluminum, and copper alloys. Each tap measures 2-23/32 in. overall length with a 1-1/8 in. thread length, features a square drive shank, and is made in the USA as confirmed by the package label and tool shank engraving.
