The Nachi L9617 is a new, solid carbide Aqua Drill EX series extra-long coolant-through twist drill with a diameter of 21/64 in (8.33 mm), a flute length of approximately 196 mm, and an overall length of 246 mm, designed for a depth-to-diameter ratio of 20xD. The drill features Nachi's proprietary blue-black DLC-style "Aqua" coating (a hard multi-layer coating applied over carbide substrate), which provides excellent wear resistance, low friction, and heat resistance for drilling steel, cast iron, stainless steel, and other ferrous materials at elevated cutting speeds. Through-coolant channels run the full length of the flute body, enabling high-pressure coolant delivery directly to the cutting edge for chip evacuation and thermal management in deep-hole drilling applications. The straight shank — visibly reduced/necked compared to the body — is compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks and collet holders (ER or hydraulic) sized for the shank diameter. Point geometry features a conventional split-point design optimized for self-centering and reduced thrust in deep-hole production drilling on CNC machining centers.
