This is a new Norton Gemini series bench and pedestal grinding wheel, part number 66253044087, measuring 8 in diameter × 1 in wide × 1 in arbor bore (203 mm × 25 mm × 25 mm). The abrasive is green silicon carbide (GC) — the correct grain for grinding cemented carbide tooling, ceramics, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals — bonded in a vitrified bond at 60 grit Medium grade. Maximum operating speed is 3,600 RPM as marked on the label, and the wheel accepts bushing sizes 7/8, 3/4, and 5/8 in to suit a wide range of bench and pedestal grinder spindle sizes. Norton's Gemini silicon carbide wheels are a direct replacement for applications requiring sharp, free-cutting action on hard, brittle, or low-tensile-strength materials such as carbide tool reconditioning, lapidary work, and non-ferrous sharpening.
