OSG 1400125900 HY-PRO 1/4-20 UNC GH8 NRT SB HSS-Co Forming Tap

This OSG HY-PRO 1400125900 (List 14001) is a 1/4-20 UNC thread forming tap, also called a roll tap, made from HSS-Co cobalt high speed steel and marked GH8 for the thread limit. Forming taps displace material into the thread profile instead of cutting chips, which produces a work-hardened thread with no chips in blind holes; the lobed body is visible in the photos. The NRT designation indicates a no-relief-thread style with a plain, non-relieved form, and the SB marking denotes a standard bottom chamfer style. The tap has a reduced neck and a larger shank with a square drive end and is marked made in Japan. This item is new, supplied in the original OSG plastic tube.
