The PCE Instruments PCE-032 is a handheld analog refractometer designed for field and shop-floor measurement of refractive index in aqueous solutions including metalworking coolants, fruit juices, and other water-based emulsions. It features a dual-scale optical system readable in degrees Brix (for sugar/concentration content) and is calibrated for use without batteries or electronics — ambient light passes through the prism assembly and the shadow line is read directly through the adjustable eyepiece. The instrument ships new (other) complete with the refractometer, plastic transfer pipette, and a blue hard-shell carrying case with foam insert for storage and transport. Calibration is performed via the external zero-adjustment screw using distilled water as a reference. The CE-marked instrument is manufactured by PCE Instruments, a German test and measurement brand, and is suited for QC checks of coolant concentration on machining centers and similar industrial fluid monitoring tasks.
