This new precision Model 5 switchable magnetic V-block is a cast iron workholding fixture with ground and lapped V-groove and base contact surfaces, designed to locate and hold cylindrical workpieces on magnetic chucks, surface plates, or ferrous machine tables. The integrated on/off rotary knob mechanism redirects the permanent magnet flux to engage or release the block from a ferrous surface without any external power source, allowing safe repositioning during setup. The V-groove runs the full length of the top face and accommodates round stock across a typical capacity range of approximately 5/8 in to 3-1/8 in diameter; the ground flat bottom provides a stable, magnetically activated mounting surface. Common applications include inspection setups, surface grinding workholding, cylindrical squareness checks, and layout work on steel surface plates.
