Regal 027270AS M10x1.5 HSS D6 3-Flute 6in Bottom Hand Tap

The Regal Cutting Tools 027270AS is a new, USA-made M10 x 1.5 hand tap in High-Speed Steel (HSS) with a D6 tolerance class, 3 straight flutes, a 6-inch overall length, and a bottom (plug/bottoming) chamfer — all read directly from the label. The D6 tolerance class per ANSI/ASME B94.9 designates the pitch diameter oversize limit at +0.0005 in to +0.0010 in above basic, producing a 6H fit in through or blind holes. The bottom (BTM) chamfer provides just 1–2 threads of lead, enabling threading to within one or two pitches of the bottom of a blind hole — making this tap the finishing tap in a tapping sequence after a taper or plug tap has started the thread. With 3 straight flutes, this tap is suited for through-hole or short blind-hole applications in cast iron, brass, aluminum, and mild steel where chips can be cleared by reversal. The HSS construction offers toughness and regrindability for shop-floor hand tapping operations using a standard tap wrench sized for the square shank.
