Riten 17301 5/8in Straight Shank Concentric Live Center

The Riten Industries 17301 is a new Concentric-brand straight-shank live center with a 5/8 in. shank diameter, manufactured in the USA by Riten Industries, Inc. of Columbus, OH. The rotating point runs on precision internal bearings — visible in the photos as a hardened, ground 60° carbide-tipped point supported by a sealed bearing assembly housed in a black-oxide finished body — allowing the center point to rotate freely with the workpiece and eliminating the heat and friction associated with dead centers. Per the included lubrication card, the unit must be greased after each use (or every 24 hours in continuous operation) to flush coolant and swarf from the bearing cavity; warranty is void if proper lubrication and end thrust are not maintained. This center is suited for engine lathes, turret lathes, and CNC turning centers accepting a 5/8 in. straight (cylindrical) tailstock bore, and is appropriate for general-purpose between-centers turning and cylindrical grinding setups where concentricity is critical.
