Sandvik 1P226-2540-XA 1630 1in 2FL AlCrN Solid Carbide End Mill

The Sandvik Coromant 1P226-2540-XA 1630 is a new, solid carbide square-end end mill from the CoroMill Plura family, engineered for high-performance milling of steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. The MPN decodes as follows: "1P" = CoroMill Plura solid carbide end mill series; "226" = geometry variant (2-flute, square end); "2540" = 25.40 mm (1.00 in) cutting diameter; "XA" = extra-long reach / short-cut-length variant; grade "1630" = a PVD AlCrN-coated submicron carbide grade optimized for steel and difficult-to-machine alloys at elevated temperatures. The AlCrN coating delivers superior hot hardness and oxidation resistance compared to TiAlN, enabling higher cutting speeds and extended tool life in dry or near-dry machining of P-class steels and M-class stainless. This 2-flute geometry provides aggressive chip evacuation suitable for slotting and profiling operations on CNC machining centers; the cylindrical shank is sized at 1 in (25.4 mm) for use in standard end mill holders, collet chucks (ER40/ER50 range), or hydraulic chucks accepting 1 in shank tooling.
