The Sandvik Coromant 266LL-16NT01A140M grade 1125 is a new, full-profile internal threading insert from the CoroThread 266 system, designed to cut 60° NPT (National Pipe Taper) threads at 14 TPI. The insert is triangular in shape (T = triangle), left-hand cutting (LL designation), size 16, with a 140° thread profile angle and a 1.37 mm (0.054 in) depth of cut per pass, requiring 10 passes for steel and stainless steel and 10 passes for non-ferrous materials per Sandvik's published data label on the packaging. Grade 1125 is a PVD-coated cemented carbide (TiAlN-based coating, identifiable by the gold cutting edge visible in photos) optimized for ISO P (steel, up to 175 HB at 520 SFM), M (stainless steel, up to 200 HB at 420 SFM), and N (non-ferrous, up to 90 HB at 1300 SFM) workpiece materials. These inserts are compatible with CoroThread 266 boring bar toolholders and are designed for internal NPT pipe thread turning on CNC lathes; the full-profile geometry eliminates the need for a separate deburring operation on the thread crests and roots.
