The Sandvik Coromant CNMG 12 04 12-MMC 2025 (inch equivalent: CNMG 433-MMC) is a new, factory-sealed box of 10 double-sided 80° diamond-shape (C) carbide turning inserts in the 2025 PVD-coated grade — a CVD Ti(C,N)/Al₂O₃ multilayer coating specifically engineered for medium-to-rough turning of stainless steel and difficult-to-cut materials (ISO M work material group, with secondary applicability in P, K, N, S, and H groups). Decoded from the ISO designation: C = 80° rhombic shape, N = 0° clearance angle (double-sided), M = M-tolerance class, G = screw-hole with chipbreaker, 12 04 = 12.7 mm IC / 4.76 mm thickness, 12 = 1.2 mm nose radius, MMC = Sandvik's medium-roughing chipbreaker geometry optimized for moderate feed and depth with controlled chip flow on sticky and work-hardening alloys.
