These are new Sandvik Coromant CNMG 160612-QM inserts in grade 4315, a CVD-coated cemented carbide grade featuring a Ti(C,N)/Al2O3 multilayer coating designed for medium to roughing turning of steel (ISO P) and stainless steel (ISO M). The CNMG designation specifies an 80° diamond (rhombic) shape, 0° clearance angle (N), medium tolerance (M), with a hole and chipbreaker (G), 16mm inscribed circle, 6.35mm thickness, and 1.2mm nose radius; the -QM chipbreaker geometry is optimized for medium cutting conditions with good chip control across a wide feed range. Grade 4315 utilizes Sandvik's Inveio coating technology with unidirectional crystal orientation in the Al2O3 layer, delivering enhanced wear resistance and heat resistance for extended tool life in continuous and light interrupted cuts on carbon steel, alloy steel, and austenitic stainless steel. Compatible toolholders use CNMG 16 series seats (e.g., Sandvik PCLNR/L, DCLNR/L style holders); the pack contains 10 inserts sealed in original Sandvik Coromant packaging.
