The "KM" designation indicates a High-Speed Steel-E (HSS-E, cobalt-enriched) substrate with a steam-oxide (DB = dark/black oxide) surface treatment, which improves lubricity, reduces built-up edge, and extends tool life in through-hole tapping applications where chips are evacuated upward. The "D210" suffix encodes a nominal thread depth of 2.0× diameter (≈24 mm) and the 210 mm overall length with a reduced/extended shank sized for the CoroTap 100 quick-change system — it is compatible with Sandvik Coromant's T-Max and CoroTap chuck systems with the KM shank interface.
