The Sandvik Coromant QFU-H-0400-RM 1135 is a new, indexable carbide grooving insert from the CoroCut QF product line, designed specifically for face grooving and parting operations. Decoding the ordering code: QFU designates the CoroCut QF face grooving insert geometry, H indicates the insert seat/hand (neutral/right), 0400 encodes a 4.00 mm groove width, RM is the chipbreaker geometry optimized for medium-to-rough face grooving conditions, and 1135 is the Sandvik CVD-coated carbide grade — a PVD TiAlN-based coating suited for steel and stainless steel machining in the ISO M material group. Grade 1135 is a PVD-coated cemented carbide developed for stable, general-purpose grooving in steel and stainless steel at cutting speeds around 115 m/min (380 sfm), with recommended feed rates of 0.10 mm/r (EFW) and 0.40 mm/r (SFW) and a depth of cut range of 0.10–1.75 mm, as confirmed by the package label.
