The Sandvik Coromant R840-0580-70-A1A is a new, solid carbide CoroDrill Delta-C straight-flute drill in grade 1220, a PVD-coated (TiAlN-based) submicron carbide grade engineered for general-purpose drilling of steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. The drill features a 5.8 mm cutting diameter (DC), a 39.6 mm usable flute length (LU), and a straight cylindrical shank sized for a Ø6 mm toolholder (CZCms Ø6), making it directly compatible with Sandvik Coromant CoroDrill Delta-C collet chucks and standard ER collet systems of the appropriate bore. The point geometry incorporates a self-centering 140° split point and internal coolant capability (visible coolant ports at the tip), enabling through-spindle coolant delivery for chip evacuation and extended tool life in CNC machining centers. Grade 1220's fine-grain carbide substrate with PVD coating delivers high wear resistance and thermal stability, supporting elevated cutting speeds without premature edge breakdown.
