The Sandvik Coromant SEKR1504AZ-WM 4230 is a new square-format carbide tip-seat milling insert designed for use in the CoroMill ModulMill system, as confirmed by the package label. Decoding the ISO designation: S = square insert shape (90° included angle), E = 20° clearance angle, K = tolerance class K, R = chip-breaker/seat designation (tip-seat style), 15 = 15 mm inscribed circle size, 04 = 4.76 mm thickness, AZ = edge geometry/chipbreaker designation (AZ positive geometry), WM = wiper geometry suffix for improved surface finish. The grade 4230 is a PVD-coated cemented carbide (TiAlN-based) grade optimized for milling of ISO P (steel) and ISO M (stainless steel) materials at medium to high cutting speeds, offering excellent wear resistance and edge toughness. These inserts are compatible with Sandvik CoroMill ModulMill bodies that accept the SEKR 15 tip-seat configuration and are manufactured in Japan per the package label.
