These are new Sandvik Coromant TNMG 160404-PM (TNMG 331-PM) grade 4315 carbide turning inserts from the T-Max P line, sold in the original 10-piece factory cassette. Grade 4315 is a CVD-coated cemented carbide featuring a Ti(C,N)/Al2O3 multilayer coating with a PVD top layer, engineered for the P2.1 steel turning application range with a hardness target of 175 HB, and also rated for K2.2 cast iron cutting up to 245 HB. The PM chipbreaker geometry is a positive-rake medium-finishing chipbreaker suited for depths of cut from 0.4–5 mm, feed rates of 0.1–0.3 mm/r, at cutting speeds of 360–1200 m/min (1300–1100 sfm) in steel and 265–860 m/min (960–800 sfm) in cast iron as printed on the package label. The triangular TNMG shape provides three indexable 60° cutting edges with a 0° clearance angle (negative insert, used with positive-rake toolholders), 9/64 in (3.97 mm) nose radius of 0.4 mm, and fits standard TNMG 16 toolholders such as Sandvik T-Max P holders in the MTJN/PTJN/STFCL families.
