The SPI 61R-8-.0001 is a new precision inspection block level with a sensitivity of 0.0001 in/10 in (0.01 mm/m = 2 arc seconds per graduation), as confirmed by the vial label visible in the photos. The cast iron body features a ground and lapped base with a keyed slot along the bottom for use on machine tool ways, surface plates, and lathe beds, with the characteristic raised end pads (feet) providing a stable, two-point contact reference base. The instrument carries a main horizontal barrel vial with red graduation lines and a secondary cross-level vial for transverse alignment reference, both housed in a black anodized vial plate secured by four screws.
