The Stafford Special Tools (Formrol) PHS 160 is a new, 160 diametral pitch (DP) straight-pattern knurl wheel with a 1-1/4 in outer diameter, 1/2 in face width, and 1/2 in bore, manufactured under part number STA K-PHS-160-FNC. The wheel is constructed from tool steel with a beveled face edge and finished with Ferritic Nitrocarburizing (FNC) surface treatment, which provides a hard, wear-resistant case (~0.0005–0.001 in depth) that reduces friction and resists galling during high-cycle knurling operations. Straight (axial) knurl patterns at 160 DP produce a fine pitch groove suited for grip-enhancement knurling on small-diameter workpieces typically turned on CNC and manual lathes using bump or straddle knurling toolholders accepting 1/2 in bore wheels. The knurled OD perimeter is the working surface; the beveled edges reduce burring at the start and end of the knurl track. Compatible with Formrol/Stafford PHS-series knurling toolholders and most standard bump knurling heads accepting this bore and wheel size.
