This is a new, factory-packaged set of 6 Stanley Engineered Fastening Spiralock taps, part number 17302A, designed to cut proprietary Spiralock internal threads in 1/4-28 UNF (Unified Fine) size. The Spiralock thread form features a 30° wedge ramp at the root of the thread that locks the mating bolt under vibration without adhesives or locking inserts, distributing clamp load evenly across all engaged thread flanks to minimize fatigue failure and improve reusability. Each tap is manufactured from High Speed Steel (HSS) with a Titanium Nitride (TiN) physical vapor deposition coating (gold finish) for increased surface hardness and lubricity, while the shank carries a black-oxide steam-temper finish; flute geometry is straight (SPL = Spiralock, 3 = 3 flutes, T10 = tolerance class, B = bottoming chamfer style) with a 3-flute configuration suited for through and blind hole applications.
