Starrett 196A1Z Jeweled Anti-Magnetic Dial Indicator Set w/ Case

The Starrett 196A1Z is a new, complete universal back-plunger dial indicator set built around the No. 196 jeweled, anti-magnetic dial indicator reading in 0.001 in graduation with a 0–100 numbered dial face, as confirmed by the visible dial markings in the photos. The set ships in the signature Starrett red fitted metal case with custom foam cutouts holding the indicator body, universal dovetail clamp, multiple contact points (including ball-style and flat contacts), extension rods, and a clamp post — all components visible in the case photo. The 196 series back-plunger design is widely used for runout, alignment, and setup work on lathes, mills, and surface plates where a conventional front-plunger indicator cannot access the measurement surface.
