The Starrett 30-959-1,50 is a new satin chrome groove checker rod designed for use with Starrett 440 Series groove depth gages, allowing depth measurements in grooves, slots, recesses, and keyways that are inaccessible to standard depth gage bases. The rod measures 6 inches (150 mm) overall length with a 1/8 in (0.0125 in / ~3.175 mm) diameter hardened steel rod; the satin chrome finish reduces glare and resists corrosion during precision inspection. A knurled locking collar (visible in images) secures the rod at the desired extension, and the ball-end tip — clearly shown in multiple photos — contacts the groove floor for accurate depth transfer to the mated 440 gage. The part number encodes: "30-959" = groove checker rod family for the 440 series; "1" = straight (non-offset) rod configuration; "50" = 50 mm / approximately 2 in usable depth range. Supplied in a protective clear plastic storage tube as shown, and manufactured in the USA.
