The Sumitomo CNMG432EGUW AC405K is a new, indexable CVD-coated cemented carbide turning insert in the ISO CNMG shape — 80° diamond, 0° clearance angle, M-tolerance class, with a double-sided (G) hole and chipbreaker configuration. Decoded from the part number: size designation 4 (½ in / 12.7 mm inscribed circle), thickness designation 3 (3/16 in / 4.76 mm), and nose radius designation 2 (1/32 in / 0.794 mm); the EGUW suffix designates Sumitomo's proprietary EGU chipbreaker geometry on a negative (W) insert. The AC405K grade features a multi-layer CVD coating (TiCN + Al₂O₃ + TiN) over a fine-grained carbide substrate engineered for general-purpose turning of steel (ISO P) and cast iron (ISO K) at medium-to-high cutting speeds, delivering high wear resistance and extended tool life.
