The Sumitomo VNMG331EEX (ISO: VNMG160404N-EX) is a new, factory-sealed 35° diamond-shape (V) carbide turning insert in grade AC610M, a CVD-coated cemented carbide designed for finishing to light continuous turning of steel (P) and stainless/difficult materials (M). The AC610M grade features Sumitomo's multi-layer CVD coating (TiCN/Al₂O₃ outer layers) over a tough carbide substrate, producing the characteristic gold top-face appearance visible in the photos; Sumitomo notes that coating color variation does not affect cutting performance. The EEX chipbreaker geometry is a positive-rake finish chipbreaker optimized for light feeds and low cutting forces, with published cutting data of Vc 180 m/min (591 SFM) nominal and feed f 0.15 mm/rev (0.006 IPR) for finish applications. Inserts fit standard VNMG-style toolholders using a 35° diamond V-shape with a 0° clearance angle (N), 4 mm IC, 0.4 mm nose radius, and a central cylindrical hole (G hole type).
