Sumitomo VNMG331EEX AC610M CVD Coated Carbide Turning Insert (5pc)

The Sumitomo Electric VNMG331EEX-AC610M (ISO equivalent VNMG160404N-EX) is a new, factory-sealed box of 5 indexable carbide turning inserts in grade AC610M — a CVD multi-layer coated cemented carbide designed primarily for finishing to medium turning of steel (P) and stainless/difficult-to-cut materials (M). The VNMG designation decodes as: V = 35° diamond shape, N = 0° clearance angle (negative rake), M = tolerances per ISO M-class, G = hole with chip groove both faces; size 16 = 9/16 in IC (16 mm), 04 = 4.76 mm thickness, 04 = 0.4 mm nose radius; the EEX chipbreaker geometry is Sumitomo's advanced finish-grade ground chipbreaker optimized for light depths of cut and tight tolerances, shown by the "F" (Finish) classification on the box label. Recommended cutting conditions per the label are Vc 140–220 m/min (459–722 SFM) and feed 0.1–0.3 mm/rev (0.004–0.012 IPR). These inserts seat in any standard VNMG-style negative-rake toolholder (e.g. MVJNR/L, DVJNR/L series) and are manufactured in Japan by Sumitomo Electric Industries.
