The Sumitomo WDX500D2S40 is a new SumiDrill WDX series indexable insert drill with a 50.0 mm cutting diameter, 2xD (100 mm) maximum drilling depth, and a 40 mm whistle-notch shank for secure machine spindle engagement. The body is manufactured in Japan (confirmed on packaging label) and accepts WDXT-series double-sided triangular inserts — specifically WDXT156012 inner and outer seat inserts (stamped on the shank) — with inner coolant supply through ports visible at the drill tip face. The drill ships complete as a kit including the drill body, Torx/hex torque wrench (orange-handled), and a packet of Sumitomo Sumi Paste BN anti-seizure lubricant for insert screw threads, consistent with Sumitomo Electric's standard WDX accessory kit.
