The SuperMill SR4F500LRA is a new, USA-made "Super Ruff" series 4-flute roughing (corncob-style) end mill with a 1/2 in cutting diameter, 2 in length of cut, and 4 in overall length. Decoding the MPN: SR = Super Ruff roughing series; 4F = 4 flutes; 500 = 0.500 in (1/2 in) diameter; L = long reach / 4 in overall length; R = right-hand cut; A = uncoated bright finish. The serrated/nicked flute geometry breaks chips into small segments, reducing cutting forces and enabling aggressive material removal rates on steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials in roughing and semi-roughing operations. SuperMill manufactures this tool in Berlin, CT (USA) to close tolerances; the 1/2 in straight shank is compatible with standard ER, R8, and Weldon-flat toolholders of the same diameter.
