The Supermill-XP XP500XXLCA is a new, solid carbide 4-flute extra-extra-long square end mill measuring 1/2" cutting diameter x 3" length of cut x 6" overall length, with a 1/2" straight shank. The "CA" suffix in the part number designates an AlTiN (Aluminum Titanium Nitride) coating, confirmed by the dark black/charcoal finish visible throughout the flute and shank, which provides high hardness, oxidation resistance up to ~1600°F, and excellent performance in dry or semi-dry machining of ferrous materials including alloy steels, tool steels, stainless steels, and cast iron. The extra-extra-long (XXL) flute geometry — visible in the photos as a tightly wound 4-flute helix running nearly the full 3" cutting length — is engineered for deep-reach milling, profiling, and slotting operations where standard or long-reach end mills cannot access the workpiece.
