This is a new Titan USA TC18924 solid micrograin carbide NC spot drill, 3/8 in diameter, ground to a 142° included point angle specifically optimized for spotting prior to drilling with standard 135°–140° split-point drill bits, ensuring accurate hole location without a pilot. The tool features a single-flute (S/C — single cut) helical geometry with 1 in length of flute (LOF) and 3 in overall length (OAL), manufactured from submicron micrograin carbide substrate for superior rigidity and edge retention compared to HSS spot drills. Made in the USA, the darker tool shown indicates an AlTiN or similar PVD coating (the uncoated example shows bright carbide), making it suited for hardened steels, stainless, and aerospace alloys in CNC machining centers with 3/8 in ER or end mill collet chucks. The 142° point angle produces a chamfer-free spot that accepts standard jobber drill geometry without bell-mouthing, and the short flute length maximizes stiffness to prevent deflection in precision hole location applications.
