The TradeMax TCS1B is a Size 1 tension-compression tap collet (quick-change tap adapter) with an integral safety clutch, configured for an ANSI #8 tap with a 5/32-inch (0.156 in) round shank and 4.27 mm × 3.33 mm square drive — the exact metric equivalents of the ANSI standard 0.168 in shank diameter and 0.131 in square drive for a #8 tap. The "B" suffix in the model designation denotes the safety-clutch (tension-compression) version, which provides torque overload protection in both drive and reverse directions to prevent tap breakage and protect the workpiece.
