The Tungaloy MCLNR164D (Tungaloy item no. 6674317) is a new, right-hand external turning toolholder in the MCLNR/L series, designed to accept CNMG 432 (CNMG120408) negative-rake 80° diamond-shaped inserts with a 5° clearance angle. Per the ISO toolholder designation: M = clamp/pin clamping style, C = CNMG insert shape (80° rhombic), L = 95° lead angle (setting angle), N = 0° normal clearance, R = right-hand cutting direction, 16 = 1 in × 1 in square shank cross-section, 4 = 4 in overhang/length designation, D = CNMG 432 insert size IC. The holder is manufactured in the USA from alloy steel with a black-oxide finish and uses a top-clamp/lock-pin clamping system; mating hardware includes seat ICSN433, lock pin NL46, clamp CL20, and clamp screw XNS48, all of which are called out on the body. The 95° approach angle and rigid square shank make this holder well-suited for OD roughing and finishing on conventional and CNC lathes where straight longitudinal turning and light facing are performed.
