Value Collection 1-7/16-12 UNF HSS Hand Plug Tap

This new Value Collection 1-7/16-12 HSS hand plug tap is designed for cutting 1-7/16 inch diameter, 12 threads-per-inch Unified National Fine (UNF) internal threads by hand. Manufactured from High Speed Steel (HSS), the plug chamfer style features 3–5 chamfered lead threads, making it suited for through-holes and moderately deep blind holes where a starting taper is not required. The 4-flute straight-flute geometry provides chip clearance and helps maintain alignment during hand tapping operations in materials such as mild steel, cast iron, aluminum, and plastics. The tap accepts a standard square-drive tap wrench appropriate for its shank size and is ground to H3 tolerance limits standard for this thread size, producing a Class 2B or 3B fit depending on hole preparation. MSC item number 04873089 confirms this is a genuine new-in-box unit.
