Value Collection 1-8 UNC TiN Coated Taper Hand Tap

This is a new Value Collection 1"-8 UNC taper hand tap with a TiN (titanium nitride) coating, clearly identifiable by the gold-colored finish visible across the threaded and shank surfaces. The 1-8 designation encodes a 1-inch nominal diameter with 8 threads per inch in the Unified National Coarse (UNC) thread form, and the taper style features approximately 8–10 chamfered lead threads to progressively distribute cutting load, making it suited for starting threads in through holes. Constructed from high-speed steel (HSS), this tap is designed for hand tapping operations in a variety of materials including mild steel, aluminum, and plastics; the TiN coating increases surface hardness and reduces friction for extended tool life.
