Walter Prototyp A22553-UNC1/2 1/2-13 3B HSS-E-Co Spiral Flute Tap

This is a new Walter Prototyp A22553-UNC1/2 spiral flute tap in 1/2-13 UNC, tolerance class 3B, manufactured from HSS-E-Co (cobalt-alloyed high-speed steel, designation HSS-CO) under the Paradur INOX VAP product line, as confirmed by the secondary label reading '1/2-13 HSS-CO PARADUR INOX VAP SP/PT TAP'. The Paradur INOX VAP series is specifically engineered for tapping austenitic and ferritic stainless steels (INOX/stainless), as well as other difficult-to-machine materials, with the spiral flute geometry directing chips upward out of the hole for use in blind-hole applications. The tap carries a steam-tempered (VAP — Vapor Phase) black oxide surface treatment, visible in the photos, which improves lubrication retention and reduces built-up edge on sticky stainless and heat-resistant alloys. The square-drive shank is compatible with standard 1/2 in tap holders and CNC tapping chucks; the tool is intended for machine tapping in CNC machining centers, tapping machines, and rigid tapping setups.
