The Walter Titex A6589DPP-3/16IN is a new, solid carbide twist drill with a 3/16 in (4.7625 mm) cutting diameter, manufactured in the USA and sold individually (1 pc). The A6589 series features Walter's proprietary "DPP" (Double-P point) split-point geometry, which provides self-centering capability and reduces thrust force for clean entry without a pilot hole. The drill body is uncoated HSS-grade carbide substrate with a TiN (Titanium Nitride) coating applied to the cutting end and tip zone only — evidenced by the gold/copper-colored tip visible in the product photos — which improves surface hardness, wear resistance, and lubricity at the cutting zone while leaving the shank bright for accurate chuck grip. The A6589 series is designed for drilling steel, cast iron, aluminum, and general-purpose ferrous and non-ferrous materials in CNC machining centers and conventional drill presses with straight-shank chucks.
