The Watts No. 40XL-4 (model 1 40XL-4 150/210 FS, EDP# F163725) is a new, ASME Section IV–listed auto-reseat temperature and pressure safety relief valve designed for residential and light commercial water heater applications. The valve features a cast bronze body with 1 in. NPT male inlet and 1 in. NPT female outlet connections, a 4 in. coated thermostat probe (thermal sensing element), a 150 PSI pressure relief set point, and a 210°F (99°C) temperature relief set point — both printed on the box and visible on packaging. This unit incorporates Watts' Smart and Connected Technology with a pre-installed connectable flood sensor port on the discharge outlet side; the flood sensor itself is included in the kit (separate activation kit required for wireless connectivity). Assembled in the USA, the 40XL-4 meets ANSI Z21.22/CSA 4.4 and ASME Section IV HV stamp requirements for potable water heater T&P relief duty, and the auto-reseat design re-closes after overpressure or overtemperature events without manual intervention.
