Yamawa ZELX SS SP GH5 5/16-18 UNC HSS-E Spiral Flute Tap

This is a new Yamawa ZELX SS SP spiral flute tap in 5/16-18 UNC, GH5 tolerance class, manufactured in Japan from HSS-E (cobalt-alloyed high-speed steel) for enhanced heat and wear resistance over standard HSS. The ZELX series features a spiral flute geometry engineered for through-hole tapping in stainless steel and other difficult-to-machine materials, with the "SS" designation confirming its optimization for stainless steel and the "SP" indicating a spiral point / plug chamfer designed to push chips forward and clear the flute. The GH5 ground thread tolerance class indicates a tightly controlled pitch diameter of +0.0005" to +0.0010" over basic, appropriate for 3B class-of-fit threaded holes requiring precision fits. The black oxide steam-temper finish provides corrosion resistance and mild lubricity, extending tool life in wet and dry cutting environments. Compatible with standard tap holders, floating tap adapters, and CNC tapping heads accepting a square-drive shank.
