YG-1 R9400 1/4-18 NPTF HSSE-V3 Straight Flute Taper Pipe Tap

This is a new YG-1 R9400 series straight flute taper pipe tap, size 1/4-18 NPTF (National Pipe Taper Fuel), ground from HSSE-V3 (high-speed steel with 5% cobalt and vanadium) and finished with a black oxide steam temper treatment for improved lubricity and corrosion resistance. The straight flute geometry is designed for use in through-hole and interrupted-cut applications, and suits short-chipping materials such as cast iron, brass, and bronze where chip evacuation is less critical. NPTF threads conform to ANSI/ASME B1.20.3 and are engineered for pressure-tight, dryseal connections without the need for sealant, making this tap essential for hydraulic, pneumatic, and fuel-line fittings. The tap features a square shank for positive drive in standard tap wrenches or machine holders, and was manufactured in Korea to YG-1's R9400 specification. The black oxide coating and cobalt-vanadium HSSE-V3 substrate provide enhanced wear resistance and heat tolerance compared to standard M2 HSS taps.
