The YG-1 TKR03245 is a new #6-32 UNC thread forming (cold-forming / roll) tap manufactured from powder metallurgy high-speed steel (HSS-PM), providing superior wear resistance, toughness, and a finer grain structure compared to conventional M2 HSS. Designated GH5 (Ground H5 tolerance, pitch diameter limit +0.0005 to +0.0006 in above basic), this tap is configured as a Modified Bottom (MODI BOTTOM) style, meaning it has a very short 1–2 thread chamfer length suited for threading blind holes close to the bottom. As a forming tap, it displaces material rather than cutting chips, eliminating chip-jamming problems and producing stronger, work-hardened threads; it is best suited for ductile materials such as aluminum, mild steel, brass, and stainless steel. The black oxide finish (steam oxide) visible on the tool reduces friction and provides light corrosion resistance. The straight shank with square drive end is compatible with standard tap holders and floating tap collets sized for #6 taps.
